Founded on January 23, 1972 in New Delhi by eminent journalists, the National Union of Journalists (India) is a national organisation dedicated to the cause of mediapersons. NUJ (I) is affiliated to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Brussels, Belgium.
NUJ (I) has been fighting for the interests of mediapersons and for establishing high standards in journalism. It has never been a mute spectator when the rights of mediapersons were trampled upon.
The NUJ (I) is the only trade union in India that has consistently upheld the highest democratic traditions, imposed self-restraint on its leaders, and never compromised on principles.
The name of the association shall be “The National Union of Journalists (India)”. The Registered office is located at 7, Jantar Mantar Road, Second Floor, New Delhi.
Subject to the Constitution and Rules, membership is open to all working journalists in or related to India and abroad employed by Indian media.
